There are major differences between a Christian (a person who believes in Jesus), a “Christian counselor” (a secularly trained clinician who believes in Jesus) and a “Christian who counsels” (a follower of Jesus who cares for your condition with Jesus’ truths because, and so that, you are in union with Him).
Do you want to be guided by someone who not only believes in God but someone who actually is guided by everything that He tells us in His Word?
Do you want to be guided by someone who not only believes everything that God tells us in His Word, but someone who also believes that it is comprehensive (not exhaustive) in caring for our every trouble?
Do you want to be guided by someone who not only knows God’s truths and considers them to be the most important factor in your healing/growth, but someone who also knows which truths are most relevant for your particular situation and how to help you realize them given your specific constraints?

If you are wondering what it feels like to connect and walk with an ICHTHYSroe counselor, see what our clients/members want you to know.
A professional helper is someone who gets paid for assisting someone else. A lot of the times, it is because the person being helped is unable to do their task or reach their objective on their own. However, it can also be because they can do it, but it would take a lot longer or […]
READ MOREBiblical Counselors must do three things if they are to be successful: understand the person, simplify and clarify what is complex, and bring him/her into the alignment with God’s truth. First, in order to understand the person, it is imperative to humbly engage with him/her through attentive listening and wise discerning of the person […]
READ MOREWhether a counselor is a secular counselor (who begins interpreting everything through a behavioral, biological, cognitive, existential, humanistic, psychodynamic, or socio-cultural lens immediately) or a Biblical counselor (who consistently relies on the whole counsel of God (Acts 20:27-28)), it is too often that counselors make assumptions about the counselee and jump to quick conclusions. Sadly, […]
READ MOREFrom the beginning, God has provided everything to everyone. Our Heavenly Father commanded us to subdue the earth, and His hand blesses us with everything necessary to fulfill that mandate (Gen 1:28ff; Gen 9:1-3). This theme continues throughout Scripture, with many psalms extolling the beneficence of the Almighty Creator, who possesses cattle on a thousand […]
READ MOREPeople have been broken both spiritually and physically for thousands of years. In the last century and a half, with the church focused on the former but not the latter, people began to look for help from other places. Sadly, there are now 400+ secular psychotherapies that downplay our spiritual identities at best, and disavow […]
READ MOREWhat is tithing? Some people believe that tithing went out of style with the Pharisees’ phylacteries–but tithing is not about doing things for people to see (Matt 23:5). It’s about remembering that we are a part of the body of Christ and if we do not nourish it then we will not have the […]
READ MOREClinical supervision is the pedagogical process through which mental health professionals gain from the insights of either a peer or more experienced practitioner. Theirs is not a static pre-determined approach, but a dynamic learning relationship that encourages a supervisee to take generic classroom theory outside for application in specific real-world situations. This supervision is a […]

READ MOREPhilosophy of One God, Three Persons Philosophy is the English rendering of the combined Greek words for love (philo) and wisdom (sophia). Those who read the Word of God know that God is love (1 John 4:16) and the beginning of all wisdom (Prov. 1:7; 9:10). God gives this wisdom generously to those who ask […]
READ MOREA social contract is basically what people agree to in terms of how to interact with one another. As a biblical organization, we not only adhere to, but desire and choose to uphold, expectations of one another that can be very different from what you will be offered by mainstream society and the people you […]

We also believe that refinement of that foundation requires pointing out the things that we should not do. Things to Be Mindful Of Nurture clients’ sense of agency.
